My name is Sarah Ridout and I live with my partner Gareth in North
Dorset. I have always loved animals and began my fascination with cats
when I started to get visits during the day from two beautiful cats
with eyes that were the brightest blue. After viewing some cat websites
with pictures of all the different breeds, I realised that my new friends
were in fact Birmans.
I then persuaded Gareth to take me to several cat shows and from there
my fascination grew; I also discovered the remarkable Himalayans. Just
as I fell in love with the Birman and Himalayan breed so did Gareth
and consequently in the summer of 2006 we bought a beautiful Himalayan
named Ashaneeka Joie
Devivre and a tiny Birman kitten named Picnmix
Romany Queen. As our love for the two breeds grew we made the important decision
to become Himalayan and Birman breeders and join the many fanciers
before us who strive to perfect and nurture these incredible breeds
and from there the rest is history.
We now have several precious queens who you can find on the relevant
girls page and we actively participate in GCCF shows across the country
and are members of several cat clubs. Visit our show news page for
show results and updates. We raise a small number of litters throughout
the year with tender love and affection from inside our home. There
are no kittens in cages or restricted areas that visitors cannot see
because every cat and kitten in our household is a valued member of
the family. Gareth and I treat our cats like we would our own children.
The cats love to go outside into the back garden for some fresh air
and Gareth has dedicated many a weekend over the summer on building
a purpose built play run with scratching posts and toys and also a
sheltered inside heated sleeping and feeding area so that the cats
can enjoy being outside every now and again in safety.
Knowing we do not have to worry about visits from the neighbourhood
toms etc; makes it relaxing for us to be able to leave the cats sunbathing
for a couple of hours in safety. Please see our picture below. Here
at Ridoutey Cats we are always welcoming to visitors so please don't
hesitate to contact us for a visit even if it’s just for cat
chat. We would love to meet you. We shall keep the site regularly updated
so that you can join us in our journey to love and promote Himalayan
and Birman cats.
See you soon,
